President’s Address

It gives me a great pleasure, on behalf of the Trustees of Association of Entrepreneurship Scholars (AES), to extend my warm and cordial greetings to all of you as we address one of the most critical and urgent challenges of our time. Nigeria’s population has a large percentage of young inhabitants, and there is a high demand for educational opportunities for its young populace, chumming out hundreds of thousands of graduates every passing year. Challenges of skill mismatch between formal education and job market requirements have negatively affected the social and economic well- being of these youths, impeding their economic contribution potential, resulting in loss of qualitative human capital for national development, to say nothing of accelerating rate of poverty. The population growth coupled with limited economic opportunities and livelihood options for Nigerian youths has resulted in significant increase in crime and magnitude of out-migration to different countries in the last few years in the face of growing unemployment.
